Auction
In 2003 the AR.Co executive board decides to organize an event in order to raise funds and help balance the school’s finances, which have been badly affected by declining post-secondary education enrollment numbers. The Palácio Galveias gallery hosts ‘Auction for Ar.Co’ on 3 December 2003 with the support of the Lisbon City Council and Cabral Moncada Leilões auction house. 122 works donated by the following 83 artists, with or without formal links with Ar.Co, are put up for sale at one session: Adriana Molder, Alexandra Serpa Pimentel, Alexandre Rebotim, Ana Hatherly, Ana Jotta, Ana Perez y Quiroga, Ana Vieira, André Almeida e Sousa, Ângelo de Sousa, Ângelo Encarnação, António Marques, António Poppe, António Sena, Armanda Duarte, Bárbara Assis Pacheco, Bela Silva, Catarina Tavares, Constança Arouca, Constança Meira, Cristina Filipe, Cristina Lamas, Cristina Robalo, Daniela Krtsch, Diogo Guerra Pinto, Duarte Amaral Netto, Eduardo Nery, Eurico Lino do Valle, Francisco Tropa, Frederico NS, Gabriela Albergaria, Gäetan, Gonçalo Barreiros, Graça Costa Cabral, Helena Abrantes, Helena Almeida, Inês Nunes, Jackie Catarino, Joana Salvador, João Martins, João Migueis, João Queiroz, Jorge Martins, Jorge Molder, Jorge Nesbitt, Jorge Queiroz, Jorge Rodrigues, José de Guimarães, Julião Sarmento, Júlio Pomar, Leonor Antunes, Madalena Parreira, Manuel Botelho, Manuel Costa Cabral, Manuela Sousa, Marcelo Costa, Maria Oliveira, Maria Pia Oliveira, Marta Wengorovius, Michael Biberstein, Miguel Branco, Noé Sendas, Paulo Brighenti, Paulo Quintas, Pedro Cabrita Reis, Pedro Calapez, Pedro Proença, Pedro Quintas, Pedro Sousa Vieira, Ricardo Valentim, Rita Sobral Campos, Rodrigo Peixoto, Rui Chafes, Rui Moreira, Rui Patacho, Rui Sanches, Rui Vasconcelos, Sérgio Taborda, Sofia Areal, Teresa Calém, Teresa Ramos, Tereza Seabra and Vitor Pomar. Ar.Co receives the entire sum of the raised €174,775. The Presidency of the Council of Ministers also grants Ar.Co a special subsidy of €50,000 and the Lisbon City Council a further €25,000.
